Breaking: PDP crisis could be resolved Tuesday- Metuh

The newly re-elected National Publicity Secretary of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, has stated that the party is working to resolve the crisis that followed Saturday’s Special National convention which led to the factionalisation of the party.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and seven governors walked out of the convention and later formed a parallel executive on Saturday.

The chairman of the parallel faction, Abubakar Baraje, had informed PREMIUM TIMES over the telephone on Monday that the faction he presides over will open its new secretariat on Tuesday.

But Mr. Metuh while addressing the press shortly after the maiden meeting of the new members of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party, at Wadata Plaza secretariat said the leadership of the party and all other stakeholders will meet on Tuesday and ‘find a solution to the problem’.

“Consultations on what happened on Saturday and all issues therein are ongoing at the highest level of the party in this country. We are going to take the decisions and the reasons behind the decision after tomorrow’s meeting,” he said.
